Tips for Removing Wallpaper

Tearing down wallpaper can be a daunting task, but don't think you need a professional, or a steam machine, to get the job done right. First, score the paper. You can use a utility knife, a craft knife, or a specialty-scoring tool that you can find at any hardware store for just a few dollars. Next, mix a solution of fabric softener and water. Apply the solution to the scored areas with a sponge. And let it sit for five to ten minutes before pulling gently, but firmly, from the surface. Scrape any remaining bits with a puddy knife. And if there's any residue left on the wall, use a sponge to clean it off.
