Bring the natural beauty of the outdoors into the indoors by installing a Stone Veneer Interior wall. Before beginning you will need to prep your surface which we did in part one of this series. Visit www.Lowes.com to watch "How to Install a Stone Veneer Accent Wall Part 1". For this project the materials needed are jury stick, mortar mix, trowel, hammer, angle grinder, grout and stone. To make this project easier, laying out the stones outside, may be beneficial. Next you will want to mix your mortar mix. Make sure it is a thick, creamy consistency. Begin by applying mortar to the wall. Apply an even layer of mortar on the back of the stone as well. Hold the stone against the wall for a few seconds to ensure that the stone is secure to the wall. Repeat until finished. When applying some stones, you may need to cut the stone so that it will fit properly, but also to get a staggered look on the wall. To cut, use a wet saw or an angle grinder. Be sure to use a dust mask. Onc e all the stone is set, use mortar to fill the gaps that need to become flush with the stones. Let that mortar dry to the consistency of cookie dough, and then smooth with a trowel. Once completely dry, use soap and water to wash down any dirt and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals which can break down the mortar. Turning a simple wall into a beautiful stone veneered accent wall can make any home warmer.
